Coeliac UK attend the International Food & Drink Event

Our Strategic Partnerships Manager, Ella Heather, recently attended IFE – International Food & Drink Event, connecting with food service businesses and brands from across the sector.

A key focus for Ella was raising awareness of gluten free safety and introducing our Gluten Free Accreditation and Crossed Grain Trademark to organisations looking to better support the gluten free community.

One of the biggest takeaways from the event was the continued need for greater understanding across parts of the industry. While many smaller and emerging brands are keen to label products as gluten free, there is often limited awareness of what this means in practice, particularly when it comes to production standards and avoiding cross-contamination.

At the same time, it was encouraging to engage with organisations already leading the way. It was great to speak with Essential Cuisine (a Solina brand), and to see the continued work from The Nationwide Caterers Association (NCASS) in supporting their community with free from guidance.

Ella also had valuable conversations with organisations including Allara Global and Safer Business Network highlighting the growing interest in improving standards and awareness across the sector.
